Margaret Alison is part of the maritime heritage protection project led by El Moll d’Arenys. Along with Odina, a replica of a traditional lateen sailboat (barca de mitjana), they share space and also nautical activities. Sailing trips along the Maresme coastline and summer swimming outings are common activities offered by both boats from the Port of Arenys.
A comprehensive programme of maritime heritage experiences
El Moll offers a wide range of activities designed to promote and actively enjoy our maritime heritage. Throughout the year, guided discovery tours of the Port of Arenys are organised, ending with a visit to the traditional boatyard located at the far end of the fishing quay. This space is the hub of the organisation’s efforts in restoring and preserving maritime heritage.
Nautical outings are offered aboard El Moll’s boats, usually arranged for private groups. These coastal sailing trips include explanations of the port environment and insights into the maritime history of Arenys.
Going out to sea offers the chance to experience the beauty of the Maresme coastline and, on clear days, see the entire stretch from Montjuïc hill to Cape Tossa. In summer, swimming outings can also be arranged, either near the shore or further out at sea, with the opportunity to observe seabirds or, with some luck, spot cetaceans.
With Odina, we also offer Latin sail navigation courses. These courses follow the methodology established by the Catalan Federation for Maritime and River Culture and Heritage. Participants get a thorough introduction to traditional lateen-rigged boats and all associated manoeuvres. All training sessions include hands-on sailing practice.
