Margaret Alison from the Isle of Man

The Margaret Alison is a Scottish ring netter built in 1937 near Edinburgh. Originally named June Rose, she was later renamed Margaret Alison on the Isle of Man.

The new owners who acquired her in the 1950s chose the name Margaret Alison. According to documented sources, Margaret was the name of the daughter of one of the shipowners who took over ownership.

Jay Creswell restored the vessel in the mid-1970s, during its final years of professional activity. He acquired it in Scotland but temporarily returned it to the Isle of Man to simplify administrative procedures. From this period comes the photograph showing its registration (PL70) from the port of Peel.

At the most recent Maresmar nautical celebration at the Port of Arenys, the Isle of Man flag flew on the stern mast to commemorate those two decades of work on this island in the middle of the Irish Sea.

The original name, June Rose, was given by the Clark family, fishermen from Fisherrow, near Edinburgh, and was kept until her arrival on the Isle of Man.
